A Wedding Under Blue Skies – Hog Roast Lancaster Caters For A Summer Wedding At Folkerton Mill!

Hog Roast Lancaster

Scotland’s weather doesn’t always play nice – but every now and then, it surprises you. Earlier this month, Hog Roast Lancaster pulled up to Folkerton Mill and were met with a perfect summer’s day – bright blue skies, warm sunshine, and a light breeze that made the whole place feel like a postcard.

Folkerton Mill is tucked away in South Lanarkshire, surrounded by quiet fields and rolling hills. And it’s easy to see why it won Best Unique Wedding Venue of 2025 at the Scottish Confetti Wedding Awards! It’s not just pretty – it’s got charm, character, and a chilled village-like feel that’s hard to replicate.

The couple getting married clearly poured their hearts into every detail. The flowers were bold and colourful, and their love for Highland cows made its way into the cake design in the most brilliant way. Every detail felt personal.

Having put so much thought into the decorations, it’s no surprise that they wanted the food to match the tone of the day as well. They wanted something unique, but not too out there that the guests wouldn’t enjoy it. That’s where we came in. They chose Hog Roast Lancaster to cater, and we can’t tell you how excited we were to be part of it.

With the sun on our side, Hog Roast Lancaster’s catering crew set up outside, in a spot that overlooked the open fields. The hog roast took centre stage – slow-cooked over flames, with golden crackling, stuffing, and a good helping of our homemade applesauce.

As the meat cooked, we got busy prepping the sides: fresh salads, creamy coleslaw, and trays piled high with both sweet potato and regular fries. We also sorted out a veggie and vegan option of skewers loaded with seasoned veg and halloumi, grilled until they had that perfect, smoky char.

Before long, the smell had drifted across the venue, and like bees to honey, the guests started to queue. You could see the excitement on their faces as they grabbed a plate and began browsing the buffet. With so much variety, everyone found something to love, and eating outdoors made the experience all the more special.

To finish, Hog Roast Lancaster plated up a sweet duo of desserts. Because really, what’s a wedding feast without pudding? Guests had their pick of vacherins filled with strawberries and passionfruit cream or individual rich chocolate tortes. Simple, indulgent, and the perfect end to a perfect day.
