While the most common time for couples to tie the knot lies somewhere between 11 am and 1 pm – freeing up the rest of the day (and night!) for the reception – there is a growing number of brides and grooms who are choosing to get married after the sun sets!
At Hog Roast Barnoldswick, we’ve noticed that nighttime nuptials have become an increasingly popular trend in recent years, and for good reason, too! Firstly, they give the wedding party plenty of time to prepare for the big event and secondly, they guarantee a romantic ambience. What’s not to love about that? So, when Lawrence and his then-fiancee, Freyja, reached out to us earlier this year about their plans for an evening wedding, we were excited to offer our services.
Helping the night owls transform their wedding dreams into reality was our catering manager, Sophie, whose first port of call was to help the couple settle on the perfect menu for the day. After listening to the pair and asking for details about the dietary requirements of the guests, Sophie suggested our Southern Slow Roast Menu, which Lawrence and Freyja agreed was just what they had been looking for!
Fast-forward to the day (or, we should say, evening!) of the wedding, Hog Roast Barnoldswick rolled up to the remote venue, which featured vast fields, a thicket of trees and a converted barn, which had been modernised with large window panes, which allowed light to flood onto the grounds. The exterior had been adorned with string lights and lanterns, which added to the cosy aura of the venue.
After sparing a moment to take in the breathtaking scenery, the Hog Roast Barnoldswick team set to work preparing a dramatic buffet of irresistible BBQ pork butt, Texan 24-hour beef brisket, Cajun-spiced whole roast chickens and vegan BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls with coleslaw, side salads and mixed fries. Rolls, wraps and dips were also on offer, which gave the guests the freedom to explore a variety of flavour combinations!
When the guests and newlyweds arrived to kickstart the celebrations, they were immediately enveloped by the gorgeous aromas of fresh-cooked food. Instantly, they formed a queue (with Lawrence and Freyja at the front, of course!) to collect a plateful of tasty grub, which gave them all the energy they needed to carry on the celebrations into the small ours of the morning.
