Hog Roast Carnforth Serves A Stunning Feast At Capernwray Hall!

Living and working out here in the Carnforth countryside really is something else. There’s just something about the mix of craggy hills, calming canals, and those rolling green fields that makes our quaint market town feel magical. It’s no surprise so many people want to celebrate big moments here. And for us at Hog Roast Carnforth, it’s always a real pleasure to be part of those events, bringing good, honest food to the party.

Recently, we were back at the incredible Capernwray Hall for the second time this year, celebrating the graduation of the volunteers that have been at the castle for the past 12 months. Tucked in the heart of the Carnforth countryside, this Gothic Revival estate turned bible school is dripping in centuries of history, dating all the way back to the Viking era. And as if the setting wasn’t breath-taking enough, the sun made a welcome appearance, bathing the perfectly-clipped lawns in golden rays well into the evening.

With the weather on our side, Hog Roast Carnforth was happy to treat the 120 guests to an alfresco experience, which centred around our namesake hog roast. Cooked low and slow over real flames until tender and juicy, the meat was paired with bubbling crackling, sage and onion stuffing and applesauce on a choice of gluten-free or wholemeal rolls and wraps. As well as pork sandwiches, our catering manager, Sophie, rustled up some gorgeous grilled vegetable kebabs, packed with sweetcorn wheels, red onion, juicy green pepper and optional halloumi chunks infused with sweet chilli for a nippy kick.

Of course, a feast is never a feast without some cracking sides, and Hog Roast Carnforth knocked it out of the park with our homemade tomato and mozzarella salad, leafy mixed salad and homemade gourmet coleslaw with a zesty lemon kick. Plus, there were mixed sweet potato and classic fries on offer with salt, vinegar and all of your favourite Sauce shop sauces to pick from!

We’re happy to share that, once again, our food went down a storm with this lot. The guests had a brilliant time catching up, soaking up the rays and digging into as many servings as their stomachs would allow.
